To provide technical support and input to the daily operation (i.e. maintenance, training and enhancement etc.) of the existing GIS/3D GIS/mobile and wireless computing systems/projects; to undertake research in applying GIS/3D GIS/GNSS technologies to facilitate and enhance planning work; to manage and implement related projects, including supervising and managing contractors and to organize and conduct training courses.

Candidates should have– (a) a master’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, in the subject of Geomatics, Geo-informatics or Geographic Information System (GIS); (b) Level 2 or above in English Language together with four other subjects at Grade E/Level 2 or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (2)]; (c) at least two years’ relevant working experience in undertaking research on and/or implementation of GIS / 3D modelling / 3D GIS / Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) / mobile application and wireless computing projects. Candidates with relevant experience of similar nature will also be considered; (d) good knowledge and familiar with the use of computer software, for instance, GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS family products or other similar packages, 3D GIS related software, GNSS devices and data processing software, and RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server. Proven knowledge in using programming software such as Python, Visual Basic and Visual Studio.NET, and skills, knowledge and research/project experience in remote sensing data such as LiDAR, thermal and hyperspectral data etc. will be an advantage; and (e) good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; good inter-personal skills; self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team; good research attitude and strong knowledge of research methods.
