A Technical Officer Trainee (Structural) is mainly deployed on undergoing a 3-year on-the-job training which would involve attending courses and on - (a) preparing simple structural drawings, steel bar bending details and coding sheets for computer input; (b) computing steel quantities; and (c) designing of structural elements. Candidates should have – (a) (i) obtained a Certificate in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) / technical institute / technical college, or equivalent; or (ii) Level 3 or above in Mathematics and Level 2 or above in four other subjects including Physics or Combined Science (Biology & Physics) or Combined Science (Chemistry & Physics) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent (Note: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.); or Grade C or above in Mathematics and Level 2/Grade E or above in four other subjects including Physics in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE); or equivalent (Note: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.); and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent [See Notes (A) to (C)]
