An Engineering Laboratory Technician II is mainly deployed on –

• (a)preparing/collecting samples and conducting laboratory tests/analyses on sewage, sludge and trade effluent samples;
• (b)performing flow gauging duties on site and assisting in field sampling and testing of effluent;
• (c)maintaining and updating records of analytical results and assisting in preparing case study reports;
• (d)assisting in inventory keeping, purchasing and replenishment of chemicals, laboratory apparatus and equipment; and
• (e)assisting in the supervision and training of junior staff.

(An Engineering Laboratory Technician II may be required to work on site or outdoors, work shifts and/or irregular hours.)

Candidates should have –

• (a)obtained a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Chemical Technology from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or technical college/technical institute, or equivalent; and
• (b)met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.

(Remark: For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.)
