職責
丈量員的主要職責為協助測量主任及土地測量師職系人員進行實地測量工作；備妥、保管、保養和運送測量儀器、工具和物品，以便進行實地測量工作；保持測量物料倉整潔；利用小型測量儀器／工具執行實地測量工作；以及督導及協助訓練二級工人。
(註：可能須不定時工作；在香港任何地方工作，包括多山及地面崎嶇不平的地方或交通繁忙地點工作，以及在惡劣天氣的情況下工作；以及在密閉空間或測量船工作。)

A Chainman is mainly deployed on assisting members of the Survey Officer or Land Surveyor grades to carry out surveying work in field; undertaking the preparation, care, maintenance and transportation of survey equipment, tools and materials for field survey operations; maintaining the order and cleanliness of survey stores; using minor survey equipment/ tools for execution of surveying tasks in the field; and supervising Workmen II and assisting in the training of them.
(Note: May be required to work irregular hours; work in any part of territory including hilly or rugged areas, or places with heavy traffic, and in inclement weather conditions; and work in confined space or on survey vessel.)

為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，所有公務員職位的招聘，均會包括《基本法》知識的評核。獲邀參加遴選面試的應徵者，其對基本法的認識會在面試中以口頭提問形式被評核。除非兩位應徵者的整體表現相若，招聘當局才會參考應徵者在基本法知識測試中的表現。
