An Entertainment Standards Control Officer is mainly deployed on –
(a) administering television and sound broadcasting licences and ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and licences by the licensees (including processing of applications for and renewals of licences and formulating fee proposals), reviewing and drafting codes of practice, and conducting research and public consultation on various aspects of broadcasting;
(b) handling complaints about television and sound broadcasting services;
(c) providing secretariat services to the Communications Authority and its committees, and the Hong Kong Film Development Council;
(d) examining films according to the film censorship standards and administering/enforcing the Film Censorship Ordinance;
(e) promoting Hong Kong films and enhancing the long-term development of the local film industry, processing applications under the Film Development Fund, and providing one-stop services for location filming in Hong Kong and promoting Hong Kong as a choice filming location; and
(f) providing support to Radio Television Hong Kong on matters relating to compliance with its editorial policies and processes.

Candidates should have -
(a) a bachelor’s degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;
(b) a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) [See Note (1)];
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent [See Notes (1) and (2)]; and be able to speak English, Cantonese and Putonghua fluently; and
(d) a pass result in Basic Law Test [See Note (3)].
