二級汽車檢驗主任主要負責檢驗車輛，確保有關車輛適宜在道路上行走，並且符合適用的法例規定；處理車主的上訴事宜及有關車輛構造及保養的複雜個案；調查車輛意外的起因；協助管理驗車中心；監察承辦商的檢驗工作質素；培訓承辦商的員工；以及執行其他與車輛安全及規例有關的職責。
註：或須不定時工作、執行戶外職務及被調派到其他部門。
職責
A Motor Vehicle Examiner II is mainly deployed on inspections of vehicles to ensure their roadworthiness and compliance with the appropriate legislation; attending to appeals by vehicle owners and dealing with complicated cases regarding construction and maintenance of vehicle; investigating the cause of vehicle accidents; assisting in the management of an inspection centre; monitoring of contractor’s inspection quality; training of contractor’s staff; and other duties related to vehicle safety and regulations.
Note: May be required to work irregular hours, perform outdoor duties, and be posted to other government departments.
入職條件
申請人必須：
- (a)完成有關的認可學徒訓練或兩年有關實務訓練，並且取得香港任何一所理工學院╱理工大學或香港專業教育學院所頒發的汽車工程高級證書，或具同等學歷；
- (b)在取得上述資歷後，在汽車工程方面(包括車輛檢驗)具有五年經驗(所有學徒訓練期或實務訓練期不計算在內)或在汽車工程方面(包括車輛檢驗)具有三年擔任督導職位的經驗；
- (c)符合語文能力要求，即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科考獲第2級〈註(1)〉或以上成績，或具同等成績；以及
- (d)在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績〈註(2)〉。
Candidates should -
- (a)have satisfactorily completed a relevant approved apprenticeship or two years’ relevant practical training, and have obtained a Higher Certificate in motor vehicle engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent;
- (b)have five years’ post-qualification experience (excluding all apprenticeship or practical training) or three years’ post-qualification experience at supervisory level in the field of motor vehicle engineering including motor vehicle inspection;
- (c)meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2
Note (1)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
- (d)have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test

入職條件(註)
- (1)政府在聘任公務員時，2007年前的香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科(課程乙) C 級及E級的成績，在行政上會分別被視為等同2007年或之後香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科第3級和第2級成績。
- (2)政府會測試所有應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》及《香港國安法》知識。在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績是所有公務員職位的入職條件。申請人必須在《基本法及香港國安法》測試中取得及格成績方會獲考慮聘用。如申請人在申請公務員職位時仍未曾參加相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試或未曾在相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試考獲及格成績，仍可作出申請。他們會被安排在招聘過程中參加相關《基本法及香港國安法》測試。
