An Armourer III is mainly deployed on (a) checking, maintaining and repairing all arms; (b) rebluing and rustproofing weapons; and (c) carrying out arms inspection duties in Police stations and posts. (Note : May be required to transfer on secondment to the Customs and Excise Department where a post in the same rank exists.)

Candidates should (a) have obtained a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical college/technical institute, or equivalent; (b) have completed Secondary 5, or equivalent; (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (1)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; (d) possess experience in the repair of mechanical items; and (e) pass a trade test.
