職責
科學主任主要負責(a)執行天氣預測職務；或(b)督導及訓練員工，以及研究和提供包括天氣、氣候、地震、輻射、水文氣象、海洋物理、航空氣象、海洋氣象和應用氣象等服務。科學主任可能須在本地接受培訓，亦可能被送往海外進修氣象學及/或其他有關課程。他/她也可能須執行戶外職務、輪班、在正常工作時間以外及惡劣天氣情況下工作。
A Scientific Officer is mainly deployed on (a) performing weather forecasting duties; or (b) supervising and training staff and carrying out research in connection with the provision of services in areas including weather, climate, seismology, radioactivity, hydrometeorology, physical oceanography, aviation meteorology, marine meteorology and applied meteorology. A scientific officer may be required to attend training courses locally. He/She may also be sent on an overseas course in meteorology and/or other relevant subjects. He/She may be required to work outdoors, shifts, outside normal office hours, or in adverse weather condition.
入職條件
申請人須(a)持有香港認可大學的物理、數學、氣象學、核子科學或其他合適理科科目的一級或二級榮譽學位，或同等學歷；及(b)(i)畢業後有最少兩年與氣象相關的工作經驗；或 (ii)持有香港認可大學的物理、數學、氣象學、核子科學、電腦科學、資訊科技學、電子工程學或其他合適理科科目碩士學位，或同等學歷；及 (c)在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用和英文運用)中取得「一級」成績。
Candidates should have (a) a Hong Kong first or second class honours degree in Physics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Nuclear Science or an appropriate science subject, or equivalent; and (b)(i) at least two years’ post-graduate working experience in meteorology; or (ii) a Hong Kong Master degree in Physics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Nuclear Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering or an appropriate science subject, or equivalent; and (c) attained ‘Level 1’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English ) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE).
入職條件(註)
(1) 能力傾向測試的考生成績分為及格或不及格，而中文運用及英文運用試卷的成績則分為「二級」、「一級」或「不及格」，並以「二級」為最高等級。
(2) 香港高級程度會考英語運用科C級或以上和D級成績(或同等成績)分別會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的「二級」和「一級」成績。香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科C級或以上和D級的成績則分別會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的「二級」和「一級」成績。
(3) 在International English Language Testing System (IELTS)學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在IELTS考試成績的兩年有效期內，會視為已符合科學主任職位的英文語文能力要求(即入職條件的(c)項)。IELTS考試成績必須在職位開始接受申請的首天(即2015年1月30日)仍然有效。
(4) 為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，所有公務員職位的招聘，均會包括《基本法》知識的評核。申請人在基本法測試(學位/專業程度職系)的表現，會用作評核其整體表現的其中一個考慮因素，但不會影響其申請公務員職位的資格。原則上，申請人的學歷、經驗和才能仍然是考慮其是否適合被聘用的主要因素。
(5) 申請人須於申請表上清楚填寫其學歷，及在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用和英文運用)的成績。申請人如未能提供所需的所有資料，或所填寫的資料未能清楚顯示申請人符合上述入職條件，其申請將不獲考慮。
