A Senior Music Officer (String) is mainly deployed to: (a) supervise and develop the daily operation of Instrumental Music Training Scheme (IMTS), orchestra/ensemble training programmes and outreach interest classes; (b) undertake conducting responsibilities; (c) plan music programmes for the various Music Office activities; (d) develop and review training curricula; (e) plan and implement internal assessment of trainees; (f) liaise with parents, musicians and community organizations; and (g) supervise staff in the String Section. (Notes: May be required to work irregular hours.)

Candidates should – (a) (i) have an associate diploma in the String instrument conferred by a recognized music institution through public examination, or equivalent; or (ii) have a diploma in music from a recognized institution with a major study in the String instrument, or equivalent; (b) have not less than 9 years' full-time post-qualification working experience in teaching/ performing the String instrument in recognized institutions or organizations; (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (i)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; (d) be able to speak fluent Cantonese; and (e) have experience in conducting orchestras.
