香港電台（港台）是本港的公共廣播機構。廣播處長掌管港台，並向商務及經濟發展局負責。具體而言，廣播處長職責如下： (a) 領導港台，履行其公共目的及使命，並確保遵守港台約章； (b) 規劃港台作為公共廣播機構的新發展及管理港台，每天提供多個頻道的高質素電台及電視服務、學校教育電視製作，以及新媒體服務； (c) 擔任港台總編輯，負責制訂符合港台《節目製作人員守則》的編審制度，以準確、持平及客觀的新聞、公共事務及一般節目，為巿民提供資訊、教育及娛樂； (d) 協助商務及經濟發展局適時檢討有關港台服務的政策事宜、制訂港台的策略和運作方案及財政預算、定期檢討港台服務表現達到目標的情況，以及作出所需的跟進行動； (e) 建立港台問責企業文化，並加強人力資源及財政方面的企業管理；以及 (f) 就港台一切運作及管理事宜負責。 有關港台的更多資料，可瀏覽港台網頁（網址：http://www.rthk.hk）。

Reporting to the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB), the D of B is the head of the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), the public service broadcaster in Hong Kong. In particular, the D of B is responsible for – (a) leading the RTHK towards achieving its public purposes and mission and ensuring compliance with the Charter of RTHK; (b) planning for the new developments of the RTHK as a public service broadcaster and managing the RTHK in providing high-quality multi-channel radio and TV services, school education television productions and new media services on a day-to-day basis; (c) acting as the Editor-in-chief to ensure that a system of editorial control in accordance with the RTHK’s Producers’ Guidelines is in place to provide accurate, impartial and objective news, public affairs and general programming that inform, educate and entertain the public; (d) helping the CEDB review from time to time the policy aspects of the RTHK’s services; formulate strategic and operational plans and budgets of the RTHK, review the achievement of performance targets of the RTHK on a regular basis, and implement resulting actions required; (e) shaping an accountable corporate culture and strengthening the corporate management of human resources and finance of the RTHK; and (f) accounting for all matters relating to the operation and management of the RTHK.
