A Judicial Clerk is mainly deployed on – (a) serving as Clerk to a Judge / Registrar of the Court of Final Appeal, a Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal of the High Court, a Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, a Judge of the District Court or a Master; attending and assisting in court or chambers hearings as appropriate (including arraignment of the accused, empanelling jury and taking verdict); maintaining accurate records; checking and marking exhibits and arranging for their custody; settling and approving draft orders drawn up by legal practitioners; (b) assisting the First Clerk in magistrates’ courts; and (c) serving as Judicial Clerk in Lands Tribunal, Small Claims Tribunal, Clerk of Court’s Office, High Court Registry, Probate Registry, District Court Registry and Family Court Registry.

Candidates should have - (a)(i) Level 3 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (“HKDSEE”) (Note 2), or equivalent; or (ii) Grade E or above in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Level 3 (Note 3) / Grade C or above in three other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (“HKCEE”) (Note 2), or equivalent; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent.
