(a) Supervising subordinates in performing their duties; (b) training, instructing and supervising persons in custody in correctional institutions engaging in garment or knitwear production; (c) overseeing work processes including sewing, knitting, material estimation, pattern making, cutting, pressing, packing, quality assurance, machines and equipment operation and maintenance; (d) preparing vocational training materials and teaching related classes; (e) enforcing the Code of Practice of Occupational Safety & Health and related regulations; and (f) performing any other duties as assigned. (Note: Subject to the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance and may be required to wear uniform, work shifts and live in departmental quarters.)

(a) have completed an apprenticeship or institutional training in clothing, textile or knitwear industry; and be able to furnish evidence that they have had relevant working experience in clothing, textile or knitwear production [Note 1 under Entry Requirements]. Total period of training and working experience should not be less than 10 years; (b) have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Form 3 standard; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English; and (c) undergo and pass an aptitude test and a trade test in garment [Note 2 under Entry Requirements].
