An Artisan is mainly deployed on one or a combination of the following types of work - (a) assisting in monitoring building management contractors’ work, carrying out simple maintenance on building services works, conducting regular visits and reporting major defects in the building; (b) assisting in supervising and monitoring public filling operations, public fill reception and exit offices, weighing operations, as well as temporary stockpiling, uploading and off-loading activities; (c) performing minor civil engineering works, cleaning-related duties, diving-related duties and dredging works; (d) assisting in minor geotechnical engineering duties in the Landslip Preventive Measures Division; and (e) carrying out general workshop duties, maintenance on testing equipment and furniture, preparing samples and assembling equipment for testing, and supervising Workmen in the Laboratories Section. (Note: Successful candidates may be required to (i) perform emergency, stand-by, on-call and shift duties, and work irregular hours; (ii) work in remote areas and/or rigorous conditions; and (iii) drive a departmental vehicle under the self-drive scheme.)

Candidates should have (a)(i) completed a full apprenticeship or other approved course of practical training in the field of construction; or (ii) at least 4 years’ experience in construction work; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
