(a) training, instructing and supervising prisoners or inmates in correctional institutions engaging in work activities of carpentry trade for production hardwood furniture, panel and office furniture and other wooden items; (b) performing duties including materials estimation, production planning and scheduling, quality and work process control, machine operation and their general maintenance; (c) enforcing the Code of Practice of Occupational Health & Safety and related regulations; and (d) performing any other duties assigned. (Note: Subject to the provisions of the Prison Ordinance and may be required to wear uniform, work shifts and live in departmental quarters.)

(a) have completed an apprenticeship or institutional training in carpentry work, furniture making or interior refurbishment industry; or be able to furnish evidence that they have had at least 5 years' experience in carpentry, furniture making or interior refurbishment [Note 1 under Entry Requirements]; (b) have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Form 3 standard; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English; and (c) undergo and pass aptitude test and trade test in carpentry [Note 2 under Entry Requirements].
